‘The 2020 Census – How Your Participation Determines Funding for Vital Resources Your Patients and Communities Need’
Presented by June Iljana, Partnership/Media Specialist, the U.S. Census Bureau
The 2020 Census is just around the corner, and it will be necessary for all of us. Every one of our community members must be counted because the census determines the distribution of both political representation and federal tax dollars to states and local communities. Our census population is used in allocating funds for health care, social services, education, public safety, housing, and much more. We only have a few months in which to get it right for the next ten years.
Topics Covered:
• known hard-to-count populations in Tennessee and ways to reach them
• how the Census Bureau protects responses (they cannot be shared with anyone including any other government entity)
• new response options for this year making responding easier than ever
• ideas for you to make sure your clients are counted
• temporary job opportunities for the people you serve, including income waivers for some people receiving state and federal benefits
